A wannabe-scientist accidentally launches his newly-invented machine that converts water into food into the atmosphere, which causes his island to start raining food. But things run out of control and it's up to the young inventor, beside a small-time N.Y. weather girl to save the world from a dangerous mutant-food threat.
An inventor named Flint Lockwood who is often regarded as a failure suddenly invents a machine that can turn water into food. When he accidentally shoots it into the sky, it rains food everywhere in Swallow Falls. But when the machine has a mind of it's own and creates a food hurricane, Flint finds he may have bitten off more than he can chew.
I am a huge fan of animated movies. From 'Wall-E' to 'How to train your dragon' from 'Toy Story' to 'Finding Nemo' to (yes) 'Frozen'. I just love them. 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs' is definitely not an animated movie I love or even like. One cliché after another. The absolutely unintelligent, stupid 'villains' there to hate without a real purpose (I'm not even sure how that is possible) just like the 'heroes' (who are not likable and couldn't produce an intelligent thought at all). In the middle of the movie I gave up and pressed 'forward' because at least I wanted to find out how the movie ended. The ending was just as useless as the rest of the movie. I did not enjoy the movie.
An animated feature film based on the original children&#39;s book of the same title. It is the story of Flint, a geek and crazy inventor who invents a machine that turns water into any food. It is also the story of his fellow-citizens in a town surviving on the herring industry, and the story of Sam, a weather woman turned into a reported by accident.<br/><br/>What I liked most is the script, which is very original and crazy. Despite being so, the movie script is well presented, developed and resolved; still, the script might be difficult for small children, but the visual imagination of the film is overflowing and will captivate them anyway. What interested me most in the film was just the food theme, how food abundance is depicted with its good and bad consequences.<br/><br/>The film lacks of intelligent adult humor, the animation style is somewhat &quot;chunky&quot; and unrefined (a retro look or a more contemporary one would have suited the story better) and it is not engaging enough in general. <br/><br/>Is a good and enjoyable movie of the whole family.
The splashy animation is well-executed but again a bit monotonous for a full-length feature.

Unfortunately, Flint&#39;s machine has a mind of its own, and Flint must stop it before it destroys the world. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is a 1978 children&#39;s book written by Judi Barrett and illustrated by Ron Barrett. The book was adapted for the animated movie by Philip Lord and Christopher Miller who also co-directed the film. It is followed by <a href="/title/tt1985966/">Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 (2013)</a> (2013). Yes, in fact as early as 1965 American scientists held an experiment in which, for 4 months, they fed 24 men nothing but synthetic chemicals created in a lab (amino acids, vitamins, glucose, salts, and the fat ethyl linoeate), in the form of a tasteless goo. But food made in a lab is much more expensive than food produced in the normal way. However, Flint&#39;s methods as presented in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs are not meant to be taken seriously: more than water would be needed to create synthetic food, and making it into something that looked like real food would be extremely difficult. However the plot was heavily changed: (1) Changed from fantasy to slight science fiction; (2) They never actually try to stop the food weather; (3) The weather was isolated to the island without any part of the world knowing about it, whereas in the movie, it becomes a tourist attraction and the food even spreads around the world; (4) Flint Lockwood, the girl meteorologist, the corrupt mayor, and most of the other characters in the movie don&#39;t exist in the book; (5) The island had no association with sardines, it always rained food at the island; (6) There was no mount leftovers; (7) They never ever come back to the island; (8) The kids don&#39;t get excited with the no school; and (9) The book plot had nothing to do with many themes in the movie i.e. fame, family, individuality.
